Arniston Bay Fairtrade awards testimony to the quality of Coastal wines
Shortly after the launch of the Arniston Bay Fairtrade range, an array of accolades for these wines endorsed Arniston Bay’s drive to craft wines of excellence with integrity.
The Arniston Bay Fairtrade Rosé 2021 and Shiraz 2020 were awarded Gold medals at the 2021 International Michelangelo Awards. The entire range, which also includes the Sauvignon Blanc 2021, was lauded with Gold medals at the 2021 Gilbert and Gaillard International Challenge. Most recently, the Arniston Bay Sauvignon Blanc was awarded a Gold Medal at the Veritas Awards – recognised as the longest running and most prestigious wine competition in South Africa.
The Arniston Bay Fairtrade range, inspired by the historic and charming fishing village, Arniston, is produced from Wine of Origin Coastal vineyards. This distinctive appellation boasts diverse soils, coastal maritime climate and the effect of the cool Atlantic Ocean breezes, which offer high-quality grapes resulting in elegant, fragrant and crisp wines, reflected in the Arniston Bay range.
The Arniston Bay brand upholds the highest social and environmental responsibility standards through globally recognized certifications and community upliftment. The grapes used to produce this range are Fairtrade certified, and are Vegan certified by The Vegan Society. “To launch a range of wines that are exclusively Fairtrade has been a great journey. Our team is motivated to continue growing this brand and seeing the substantial effect it will have on farmworkers and their communities,” explains Arniston Bay winemaker Abraham de Villiers.
The Arniston Bay trio beautifully reflects the freshness and world-class quality of Fairtrade wines produced from coastal vineyards. “Each varietal showcases the distinctive characteristics that are associated with Coastal origin wines. The Sauvignon Blanc is crisp and refreshing, the Rosé is striking yet elegant, while the Shiraz offers fragrant floral aromas with a hint of soft spice,” explains Abraham.
