Stellenbosch Vineyards Credo named the best Chenin Blanc in South Africa

The Stellenbosch Vineyards Credo Chenin Blanc 2019 was awarded Best in Class at the annual National Wine Challenge/Top 100 Wine Awards.

Three wines from the Credo range were awarded Top 100 status, showing true testament to its slogan “Out of Many, One”. The proudest achievement for winemaker Bernard Claassen and his team is the Stellenbosch Vineyards Credo Chenin Blanc 2019 which was selected as the Grand Cru Best in Class. “It is that single wine that has something else, something utterly compelling about its presence and attractiveness, that captures the panels attention and in the end, gains the Grand Cru ‘Best in Class’ Award,” explains Robin von Holdt, CEO of the National Wine Challenge.

“Everything aligned with the 2019 vintage. The harvest was excellent in terms of quality and quantity, and I had high expectations for this wine. I’m proud to receive this exceptional acknowledgement in a very competitive category such as Chenin Blanc”, smiles winemaker Bernard Claassen. The Credo Chenin Blanc 2019 spent 18 months in French oak barrels, resulting in aromas of fresh peaches and apricots complemented by floral honeysuckle, biscotti and a hint of lime. The palate is creamy with prominent notes of honey and spicy undertones of vanilla.
