Stellenbosch Vineyards Single Vineyard Chenin Blanc 2017
The vineyards
This Chenin Blanc is the ultimate expression of terroir.
Made from a single block of Chenin Blanc vines in the
Helderberg area of Stellenbosch that was planted in
1967, this vineyard celebrated its 50 year in 2017. The
gnarled old vines producing only 3 tons of highly
concentrated sun kissed grapes. This vineyard
exemplifies all the best characteristics of what makes
South African Chenin Blanc special and without equal
in the world. A true homage to the hard work of the
grape growers and winemakers that have past through
this vineyard in the last 50 years.
The winemaking
Grapes were hand harvested and sorted before being
naturally fermented in old oak barrels and left on the
primary lees to mature for 12 months. After it is racked
and returned to the barrel to mature for a further 12
months in barrel before bottling.
Only the best barrels with the most expressive character
is selected, for the 2017 vintage only 2 barrels met the
stringent requirements.

lingering aftertaste of limes and marmelade.
The entry to the pallet is full with a creamy texture. The
mid pallet is broad and freshened by a limey acidity.
